From zero to a working practice
- 1Sign inUse Continue with Microsoft if your firm runs on Microsoft 365 — sign-in stays with your identity provider — or a password. Joining an existing practice? Open the invite link from your email; it carries its own authority, no password needed first.
- 2Add clients from Companies HouseSearch the register by name or number and ingest clients directly — registered details, officers and filing deadlines arrive with them and stay current with the public record. Clients that aren’t registered companies can be added by hand.
- 3Connect Xero, per clientEach client’s Xero organisation connects by OAuth from Settings. The chart of accounts, tax rates, tracking categories and contacts sync in — they’re what Bills codes against and Financials reports from.
- 4Invite your teamFrom Settings → Users. Each person gets feature permissions and client access; see Users, roles & client access for how the two combine.
- 5Set the client's bills addressEvery company client has a per-client forwarding address. Forward one supplier invoice to it and watch it land in Bills, extracted:
- 6Take your first Financials snapshotOpen Financials, confirm the live figures pulled from Xero, set the Columns to months, and save a version — your first frozen management-accounts pack. Export it to PDF to see the finished article.

The bills forwarding address
bills+<clientslug>@accountantos.co.uk
# example
bills+meridian-co@accountantos.co.ukTipCopy the exact address from the client’s profile — the slug is shown (and editable) there, and collisions are resolved with suggestions when two clients share a name.
NoteXero connections use expiring OAuth tokens. If a connection lapses (password change, admin revoke), reconnect from Settings — nothing is lost; syncing resumes where it left off.
